Lane Community College Breaks Ground on New Health and Wellness Center

On June 2, 2009, Lane Community College broke ground on its new Health and Wellness Center thanks to the strong community support of its Opening Doors campaign.

LCC, the sole provider of nursing education in Lane County, estimates a need for an additional 1,300 nurses by 2014.  The extra classroom and laboratory space the Health and Wellness Center will provide is essential to the college’s efforts to ensure students will have the facilities they need to become skilled and caring medical practitioners.

The successful $23 million Opening Doors campaign has garnered over $18 million (including a state grant of $6.75 million) since its launch in November 2008.

Resources raised during the campaign will also provide additional faculty for the center, establish a president’s fund for innovation, and allow the foundation to award scholarships to at least 125 deserving LCC students.
