Zane State College’s “GIFT” Family Campaign Reaches 100% Participation

The Zane State College’s GIFT(Giving into the Future Together) family campaign team members chose an eco-conscious theme that represented their desire to leave a lasting legacy for future generations. The GIFT campaign reached an impressive 100 percent participation milestone and a gift total amounting to the equivalent of the external campaign’s first lead gift. The campaign logo was designed by one campaign team member’s family and printed on recycled cardboard. To track the campaign progress, thermometers were inserted on large versions of the logo and displayed on campus. Following the eco-friendly theme, information about the internal campaign was printed on recycled paper. Reusable shopping bags with the logo were given as a thank-you gift to each employee contributor. One of the incentives that was raffled off was a large gift basket (valued at $300) that contained numerous items that fit the eco-friendly theme (i.e., energy-efficient light bulbs, gardening supplies).

Participation milestones of 25, 50, 75, and 100 percent were marked with tree-planting ceremonies of which the entire campus was invited to attend. Each ceremony was also used as an opportunity to honor employee donors that had been payroll contributors since the foundation’s inception, were brand-new employees and first-time givers, had grown up in the college’s service area, or were Zane State College alumni.

“Our awesome co-chairs and their team took ownership of the internal campaign,” says Pamela Jira, Zane State College’s Executive Director of Institutional Advancement. “We met our 100 percent goal through the sheer force of their passion for the college and their desire to see the vision for our initiatives realized. They were not about to accept anything short of our goal. However, the speed at which they achieved that goal amazed all of us!"
